Learn how the getting lighter of the one in your arms each time they breathe in, engages your own breathing from a deep level, and establishes the rhythm of the moves and stretches to come. Learn how floating someone at your heart draws you into a continuum, a moving as water, and a profound stillness. Learn the moves that open every Watsu session around the world. Done on both sides and complete in itself, this unconditional bodywork can be returned to again and again without ever exhausting its potential.
Steve Karle is a certified Watsu® Practitioner & Teacher and Craniosacral Therapist. He is director of the British School of Aquatic Bodywork and founder of Poetry in Water.
Steve’s background is in music and drama, which took him from Havana to Rome followed by post-graduate studies at RADA and LAMDA in London. Following a personal healing journey, Steve studied a range of eastern and western approaches to bodywork, finally specialising in water. He studied, assisted and co-taught with Theri Thomas, founder of Aquatherics®, and Harold Dull, creator of Watsu, amongst many other teachers. He introduced aquatic bodywork in London in 2011 and has since developed his own method, rooted in both Craniosacral Therapy and Watsu yet incorporating a wider range of elements, focusing on an entirely organic approach. His on-going passion for this work led to the building of the very first two Watsu pools in London where he was involved as consultant from its initial stages and where he and his Poetry in Water team now lead an ongoing clinic practice.
Steve's approach is characterised by a neutral presence, an impeccable technique and an organic understanding of movement as a reflection of one's mind-body process. Particular fields of interest include trauma work, pre and peri-natal development as well as exploring the intersection between healing and art.

Feedback from students who have taken this class taught by
... Watsu Basic sequence was a fully-organised intensive course covering the basic principles of the Watsu method. The course was challenging as to the number of hours we had to spend in the water. However, we were given a lot of information, but it was fully comprehensible as it was always followed by practical examples. Finally, everything was strictly kept to the programme.
... Do it! Don't ask just feel it! It was an amazing and very deep experiance!
... I said it already: Something completely new, like physiotherapy, but better. You will feel like never before.Amazing.
I find it good for therapy of Autism, Stroke, mental palsy, etc...
... Basic Watsu is just a beautiful way of being with and supported by another. When you are embraced by warm water, and supported by a person who's just there to tune in and be with, you will soon feel safe to let go and explore your inner territories.
In Basic Watsu you will also learn how to find stability in water, find your base, core and posture when supporting someone, and then surrender to water - and let the water do the work.
Water in itself is such a healing element, and when bringing human touch, beingness and togetherness into it, it can really be a deep transforming practice.
Steve has such a wonderful way of sharing this practice - total presence, a structural approach, but most importantly a sensitive, safe and gentle way of guiding people with or without water experience into total surrender. And he also makes room for sharing, improvisation and humor, which adds great value to the total experience.
... I would say the course was very worth while. Be prepared to be in the pool for a long time and if you do not like to be close to people then this course is not for you. It is very relaxing when doing Watsu and a would say the more relaxed you are in the water the better.
... Tihis cours will give you a deeper understanding of the dynamic in a caring relation, it will give you an idea what it will lead to "be with" more than leading, but it will also give you the idea of leading with out dominating. It will make you really feel what it means to be present more than "doing" something with someone. I think it will be a very good experience and training for anyone who wants to tune his or her way of being in a relational field, in their private life or in work.
