IAKA-D is among the oldest organisations in Europe promoting aquatic bodywork. It was founded in 1993 by Helen Schulz and Shanti Petschel in affiliation with WABA. In collaboration with our sister institutes in Switzerland and Austria, its goal was to spread the pioneer techniques, Watsu and WaterDance. In 2008, AquaRelax and Healing Dance were added to the modalities in which we offer certification programs. Four years later, IAKA-D transformed into an association led by its teachers. From the beginning we have catered not only to participants with medical and therapeutic backgrounds to enhance their professional skills, but also to lay persons interested in personal development. Our goal is to provide a high quality of training and to continue to evolve. Our institute cooperates internationally with other training institutes, sending our teachers out to them and inviting their teachers to hold trainings in Germany. We welcome you!

IAKA-D is an acronym standing for Institute für Aquatische Körperarbeit in Deutschland, which translates as The Institute for Aquatic Bodywork in Germany.
